We call all the artistic groups, associations, collectives and artists (or those take a special interest in art) from all the expressive forms of art (theatre, dancing, plastic arts, performance, music, video art, cinema, road art, graphics, web art etc.) to take part in the 4^th European Social Forum that will be held in Athens from 4-7 May 2006. After the equivalent events in Florence, Paris and London, the Forum in Athens wishes to give a special emphasis on art. Art is not considered to be an entertaining break among the “serious” political discussions, but a rather central form of political intervention.

Thus, we address all those artists –either they are known or unknown to the public–that would like to make their pioneer, experimental, subversive, political or any other proposal either in relation to the form or to the content, or concerning the way of organization of production (anti-commercial art, artistic collectives, self-organized spaces etc.)

We invite all those who wish to make their proposals in a space which is free of the practices engaged in the “industry of culture”, and all those who would simply like to know about art and experiment in a space that can withstand the artistic subversions and free expression.

We can all participate actively in an event that will gather thousands of people and many artists from all over Europe – an event that will offer the unique opportunity of exchanging experiences on art “from below” in every part of Europe and the chance of organizing artistic networks of coordination.

Artists are not the clowns of the system…
